She stands there on the balcony, looking at the star-filled
sky, thinking of the past. Tears begin to form in her blue eyes...
and they fall when she remembers the time with her friends...
a time filled with fun, laughter, danger, sorrow, and a forgotten
childhood. She begins to slowly walk back to the gala celebration,
a party to celebrate all the graduates of SeeD, but she, however,
has no reason to rejoice. For she has just lost those dearest
to her, her friends... the closest thing she's ever had to a
family. She straightens the hairpin holding some of her golden
blond hair... and begins to walk towards the bar. She sits on
a chair and asks the bartender for a drink. He knows she's underage
but realizes her pain and smiles. He slides her a drink, she
nods and begins to slowly sip.
She wants to cry and shout out in anger... but she is Quistis
Trepe, considered the most powerful person in SeeD and not one
to let others know her sorrows. She's 18 now and considered
to be the best instructor in SeeD. Her missions, though dangerous,
have brought her together with people she would later consider
friends, even family. The eldest member in her group, Quistis
can remember everything that happened... from their time at
the orphanage as mischievous kids to their epic and heroic battle
with an evil sorceress, a battle that ended it all. She sighs
and heads back to the balcony, drink in hand. She stares down
at their floating school, Balamb Garden, swaying against the
beautiful ocean below. More tears form in her eyes. She'll always
be reminded that she is the lone survivor.
Even with their combined efforts, she was the only person able
to stay alive... feeling disappointed that she lived... she
who had no family or loved ones. More and more tears form, until
she is almost flooded. She pulls her whip out of it's place
on her belt and grips it tight. This is the weapon that saved
her from death more than once. She smiles then throws it over
the balcony... watching it splash in the ocean far below. She
takes one more sip of her drink and then lays it on the nearby
table as she steps up onto the rail of the balcony. She looks
up and sees a full moon... and suddenly she feels as if the
moon's beams can make her invicible. She smiles again... wipes
the tears from her eyes... and jumps.
