Square Enix's announcement of their entrance into the cellular phone market. Three titles were announced, but two of them are simply ports of older titles. Both Dragon Warrior (Dragon Quest) and Final Fantasy will receive cellular phone remakes under the titles Dragon Warrior i and Final Fantasy i. The surprise title was not exactly the new FF7 release people were hoping for, but a cellular phone release called Before Crisis, where you play as the Turks six years before FF7. Few features and screenshots have yet to be announced, but it has been said that the game will allow you to call your friends to join you in battle.

Square Enix made note that FFVII was the single most successful Final Fantasy title they have ever produced. Fans have been clammoring for a sequel to, or remake of the game for some time now. Having sold over 9 million copies worldwide, it comes as no suprise that Square Enix would revisit the world of FFVII. Recently announced for a North American release, the 70 minute feature film, Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children takes place 2 years after the resolution of the game. In this time, a strange illness begins to infect the survivors of that near cataclysm. Old enemies begin to stir and Cloud Strife must pick up his sword once again to battle this new threat. Advent Children will be entirely computer generated and will be released on DVD and UMD (Universal Media Disc) for PSP playback. This film has yet to be rated by the MPAA.
