Dragon Quest VII Breaks Record

Enix has announced today that their last shipment of Dragon Quest VII copies makes the total shipment reach the figure of 4,000,000 copies, meaning the sales figures should reach 4,000,000 in the near future! This announcement makes Dragon Quest VII: Warriors of Eden the best-selling Playstation title ever (in Japan), and after Pokémon Red and Green, it's the third best-selling RPG in Japan ever. It's also the 6th best-selling game ever, in any genre (after Super Mario Bros, Tetris, Pokémon Red, Super Mario Land and Pokémon Green for the curious), in Japan.

Dragon Quest VII was definitely the game of the year in Japan, and despite its numerous delays and its supposedly old-fashioned graphics, it outsold its rival Final Fantasy IX by over a million copies in Japan. A stateside release date has yet to be announced although it is quite likely that the game will hit American shores in the next few months.
