2003 seems to mark the next golden age of MMORPGs. With many of the established online adventures in their second, third or fourth expansions the big guns are still in waiting. Verant Interactive and Sony Online Entertainment are preparing a 1-2 punch next year with Star Wars Galaxies: An Empire Divided slated for 1st quarter and EverQuest II for 4th quarter. To those of you who still have some semblance of a social life, "Be afraid, be very, very afraid."EverQuest II stands as the heir to a phenomenon and the folks at Verant have put quite a bit of work into the title visually, but will it be enough of an upgrade to keep the throngs of EQ addicts hooked as well as attract new blood to their service?
