The Black Mages Kanagawa Concert Report
.24.05 - 11:49 PM

On January 22nd and 23rd, Nobuo Uematsu and his rock band The Black Mages performed two live concerts in the Kawazaki City's Club Citta. The two concerts, titled Live: Above the Sky not only featured performances by the band of six, but also by Kenji Itou, who performed a piano solo. The SaGa series composer performed four tracks from various Romancing SaGa installments. The next to enter the stage was a mysterious combo known as Muzik. They performed techno and pop-style arrangements of seven Final Fantasy tracks. Uematsu would only say that if they did a good job, he would like them to record a CD. Afterwards, Udatsu Tanaka took the stage to talk about The Black Mages and Nobuo Uematsu. The concerts' highlight however was clearly the performance of The Black Mages. The band performed the following 12 songs:

The Rocking Grounds, Final Fantasy III
Zeromus, Final Fantasy IV
Hunter's Chance, Final Fantasy IX
Battle Theme, Final Fantasy VI
Battle with the Four Fiends, Final Fantasy IV
Vama 'Alla Flamenco, Final Fantasy IX
Maybe I'm a Lion, Final Fantasy VIII
Those Who Fight Further, Final Fantasy VII
The Man with the Machine Gun, Final Fantasy VIII
Clash on the Big Bridge, Final Fantasy V
Otherworld, Final Fantasy X
The Skies Above, Final Fantasy X
