Soundtracks Update: New Uematsu, New Kaneko
Sakura Note and Trinity Universe, anyone?
11.22.09 - 11:46 AM

The Trinity Universe OST features music almost entirely from Kenji Kaneko, the in-house composer at Idea Factory. For a refresher, this is yet another crossover title with characters from Gust, Idea Factory, and other Japanese RPG developers (who tend to focus on 2D sprite-based games). This PS3 title has yet to be confirmed for North American release. But the two disc soundtrack suggests that, at the very least, English-speaking RPG fans would be missing out if they didn't hear this soundtrack.

Now, perhaps more important to your own taste and familiarity with game music, we have the latest soundtrack from Nobuo Uematsu. It's the DS title Sakura Note, from Marvelous Entertainment. The soundtrack was packaged as a promotional/bonus item for those who purchased the (currently) Japan-exclusive release. You might be surprised by just how "Uematsu-ish" it sounds, especially considering the diversity in his more recent works (see, for example, Anata o Yurusanai).

So that's it for today's tiny update. Next up? Maybe some more Shin Megami Tensei. We'll see.
