Long before the days of
Mass Effect and
Dragon Age, BioWare was well known for another RPG franchise,
Baldur's Gate. Recently fans have been pondering for a while now what the official
Baldur's Gate website has been teasing (not to mention what's up with the
poems inside the site's source code...), and the countdown finally ran out today. Of course, the site is inaccessible as I write this due to the reveal, but announced was
Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition, a project that is being worked on by Beamdog and published by Atari.
Beamdog says this is not a repackaging of the 1998 title, but a significant update to the original source code, plus some brand new content. Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition is already scheduled for a summer release, but platforms have yet to be announced.
