Suikoden was one of the first RPG:s for the Playstation, and when I first played it I played from seven o´clock in the evening to three in the morning. I thought it was great, but nowadays it's not so great. With games like Final Fantasy VII and Final Fantasy VIII you don't want to buy an old game like Suikoden, but it was really fun when it first came out.

Gameplay: The learning curve is very low, there aren't really any big problems in the game. You start with really easy enemies and in the end of the game the enemies are still easy, and the bosses in the game are pretty easy too, although I did have some problems with some of the bosses, like the huge Clam. There aren't any puzzles you need to solve either, you just walk straight forward and you end up at a boss, kill it and then you move on. The best thing about this game is all the minigames you can play. You can play memory games and lots of other fun stuff, but the best part is when you fight with your army. You have about a thousand men in your army and your enemy has about the same amount. You then have to choose between magical attack, bow and arrows or charge. This is a very fun part in the game. Game play 90/100, it's an easy game to play.

Graphics: I don't know what to say about the graphics but I will give it a shot. The graphics are good, but when you fight and the camera zooms in, the graphics get really bad. But that is the only thing that is really bad, the rest of the graphics in the game are okay. The world map is good and so are the rest of the graphics in the game. The magic effects are all right, but they are not so advanced as in Tales of Destiny or Final Fantasy VII, VIII. Graphics 89/100

Control: This is very simple. It is so simple that you are able to use only one hand, so that you can eat with your other hand or wave at your friend. But one thing is really annoying, you can't dash. You move around like a moose in really thick oil. Control: 90/100

Sound: The music in the game is very good. At one point I stopped playing and just listened to the music. But, the sound effects are a disaster, I didn't enjoy the effects at all. Sound: 85/100

Story: The story in this game is great. You are the son of a great general, and you are to take his place as general in the future. But some incident forces you to join a rebellion and turn against your father. The king wants to see you dead, so he tells his five generals to search for you. Here comes a really great thing about this game, when you encounter a general and defeat him, you can choose to either kill him or spare his life. There are a lot of incidents that really move you, for example when Gremio sacrifices himself to save your life. I was really sad to see my best friend get killed. Story 97/100

Overall: This is a good game, but there are better. But if you have about 30 hours of spare time I think you should try it. Overall 89/100

Suikoden is a game that is strong in all of its individual facets, and is also equal to the sum of its parts.

A classic RPG definately worth playing if you haven't played it yet.
