NIS America comes through again with a stellar preorder bonus soundtrack. The Disgaea 2 "Best of" Soundtrack takes songs from the two disc Japanese OST and compiles it into one beautiful disc, and it hardly misses a beat. I rarely agree with a publisher's notion of "Best of," but in this case, I have to agree that these songs are the best.

If I'm not mistaken, every vocal song from the game made it onto this soundtrack. That includes the opening, ending, Etna Rock, White Tiger, and "What You've Taught Me." That's a pretty big list of Japanese vocals. All of these are excellent, but the opening and ending are my favorites: more soulful and less silly.

It's my belief that Disgaea 2 is also one of Sato's best works to date, if not his all-time best. There's a lot to love about the music, and every song leaves a lasting impression. This is especially true in the case of this "Best of" album.

If you missed out on getting the album from NIS America's preorder bonus, find someone who isn't interested in the music. Because you, the reader, should be interested. It's great music, using the full power of the PS2 to bring to life this excellent score from one of the most interesting VGM composers to date.
