Has the world turned upside down? I'm listening to Chiaki Takahashi's vocal single for an MMORPG called "Key of Avalon Online," and it's written by Hitoshi Sakimoto. Wait... Sakimoto? Harp-glissando-loving, Ivalice universe composer, Sakimoto? Writing vocal music? You better believe it!

The two tracks on this single are beautiful. Basically, it's classic Sakimoto-style music (FF Tactics, Stella Deus, etc) with a female soprano singing in a wispy, light-hearted kind of way. The first song is a little more "epic" and moody, while the second piece is more light and adventurous (think Rabanastre or Penelo's Theme from FFXII). I have to say, I'm pretty impressed. And now I want Sakimoto to work on more vocal projects. Female vocals go great with harps and orchestra bells, not to mention full string ensembles.

Whether or not this MMORPG will have an OST release, and whether or not it will be any good, I can vouch for this vocal single. I enjoyed it and hope to hear more like it from Sakimoto in the future. Also, if you don't like the vocals, the instrumental tracks are fantastic because they sound just like the high quality OST music we've been hearing from Sakimoto for years now.
